Reports to: President and CEO
Schedule: Full-time, non-salaried
Key Responsibilities:
Business Community Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs.
Identify and address the needs of the business community through surveys, meetings, and data analysis.
Support efforts to attract, retain, and expand businesses in Greenwood County.
Facilitate programs and workshops that provide resources and training for business success.
Workforce Development
Collaborate with educational institutions, workforce agencies, and employers to align training programs with local industry needs.
Coordinate initiatives that enhance workforce skills, including apprenticeships, internships, and certifications.
Monitor workforce trends and provide insights to stakeholders on opportunities for growth.
Advocate for policies and programs that address workforce challenges, such as talent attraction and retention.
Place-Based Development
Support projects that improve Greenwood’s infrastructure, public spaces, and overall livability.
Partner with local organizations to enhance the cultural, recreational, and economic appeal of Greenwood as a destination.
Assist in the development of branding and marketing campaigns to promote Greenwood’s unique identity.
Facilitate community engagement activities that foster pride and participation in local development efforts.
Administrative
Scheduling meetings and develop agenda for committees
Helping facilitate meetings and taking minutes
Working with partners to create timelines for each initiative
Managing public relations and communications
Managing annual budget process
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economic Development, Urban Planning, or related field
- At least 2 -3 years of experience in economic/workforce development, project management, education, non-profit administration, or community development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
- Knowledge of economic development principles, workforce trends, and place-making strategies
- Working Conditions:
- Office environment, primarily desk-based with occasional standing or lifting for event preparation.
- Regular hours with some flexibility for evening or weekend events.
- Ability to travel overnight for training

- Familiarity with Greenwood and the surrounding area
- Enthusiastic about community growth and local development.
- Not easily flustered, willing to deal with uncertainties
- Adaptable, collaborative, and capable of building consensus among stakeholders.
