The Member Engagement Manager is responsible for growing, engaging, and retaining Chamber members while strengthening relationships with investors and business partners. This position serves as the primary liaison for member recruitment, onboarding, retention, sponsorship development, and investor stewardship. The Manager proactively identifies opportunities to increase member engagement, communicates the value of Chamber membership, and ensures members maximize their investment through Chamber programs, events, and marketing opportunities.

Schedule: Full-time/Non-Exempt
Key Responsibilities
1. Membership Recruitment & Business Development
- Develop and maintain an active prospect list of businesses for Chamber membership.
- Conduct outreach to prospective members each month through phone calls, emails, networking, and business visits.
- Maintain detailed prospect and member notes.
- Build relationships with business owners and community stakeholders.
- Identify sponsorship opportunities with prospective and existing members.
2. Member Onboarding & Engagement
- Coordinate all new member onboarding activities.
- Deliver welcome materials, membership decals, and thank-you communications.
- Develop and maintain a New Member Questionnaire to better understand member goals, challenges, and desired Chamber involvement.
- Design and facilitate quarterly Chamber Member 101 Orientation sessions.
- Develop automated member engagement campaigns including:
- Welcome email series
- One-month Member Spotlight reminder
- Three-month follow-up phone call or visit
- Anniversary recognition emails
- Maintain accurate member profiles and contact information.
3. Member Retention & Investor Relations
- Develop strategies to improve member retention and engagement.
- Send invoices and renewal notices.
- Conduct member follow-up calls and visits to ensure satisfaction.
- Gather member testimonials highlighting Chamber value.
- Assist with development and ensure sponsorship benefits are fulfilled and recognized.
4. Marketing & Member Recognition
- Coordinate Chamber Member Spotlight features across social media.
- Monitor member social media channels for business milestones, events, and achievements to highlight.
5. Ambassador & Volunteer Engagement
- Collaborate with the Chamber Ambassador Committee to strengthen member engagement.
- Develop Ambassador expectations regarding attendance, outreach, and member engagement.
- Recruit and recognize Ambassador volunteers.
- Support volunteer engagement for Chamber events.
6. Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in membership, sales, customer service, business development, nonprofit management, or relationship management.
- Valid South Carolina driver's license required.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions
- Office environment with frequent travel throughout Greenwood County for business visits and Chamber events.
- Regular attendance at networking events, ribbon cuttings, and community meetings.
- Occasional evening and weekend work required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for event materials and displays.
