Full Job Description

Meg’s House is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located in Greenwood, SC that serves all victims of crime and abuse; most people served have been harmed through domestic and/or sexual violence. This House monitor works various shifts because the shelter operates 24 hours, 7 days a week. Employees will be responsible to work various shifts and maintain emergency coverage when necessary. The part-time house monitor works various shifts that include overnight, weekend, and holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain crisis telephone line to include accurate documentation of crisis calls and appropriate referrals.
  • Orient new clients to the shelter program and foster stable and peaceful environment by monitoring a community living environment.
  • Maintain confidential staff communication log for all shelter-related activities.
  • Provide confidential client in-take and exit services. Also, explain safety guidelines to residents.
  • Work directly with the DDD liaison / domestic violence counselor in scheduling task and client services.
  • Participate in staff development and training activities.
  • Understand the healthy dynamics of interpersonal relationships.
  • Complete Victim Service Provider Training each calendar year.
  • Assist with other task as directed*

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
  • Must pass criminal and driving record background check.

  • Ability to produce efficient work while being faced with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
  • Exhibit strong follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Efficient interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with and relate to a diverse group of people.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Articulates ideas clearly (both written and orally) and establishes rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

  • Available weekdays, weekend, holidays
  • Available evening shifts
  • Work with marginalized individuals

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • N/A

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Move/transport boxes or other items for clients - 15 lbs. or more.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.

  • Plastic shield at workstations
  • Social distancing guidelines in place
  • Sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place
  • Reduction in number of clients in shelter program
