Genetics Education Instructor - Greenwood, South Carolina

The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) has an immediate opening for an Instructor in the GGC’s 2024-2025 Outreach Education Program. This position will plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for the Genetic Education Center and the Mobile Science Program.

The primary responsibilities include preparation and delivery of instructional activities, preparation of laboratory materials and resources for educational activities that include the use of current laboratory technology. Responsibilities also include the maintenance of student and activity data for reporting purposes. The instructor will assist with oversight of Mobile Lab scheduling and on-campus tours. The ability to travel within South Carolina with monthly overnight assignments during the school year is required. Participation in special, outside events (STEM, STEAM fairs) is expected.

Candidates who have a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Science Education with relevant classroom experience and knowledge of current technology are encouraged to apply. The qualified applicant must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with students, teachers, school administrators and other employees. Applicants must have a genuine interest in working with students, in informal education and in working with a non-profit organization.
