The lecture will be held in conjunction with The Museum’s exhibition on Lander University’s first 150 years. The Museum (106 Main Street) is adjacent to The Arts Center of Greenwood and will be open to the public from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on the evening of the lecture so attendees have the opportunity tour the concurring exhibition.

Lander University: Streams of Learning

Help celebrate Lander University’s sesquicentennial by joining librarians and co-authors Lisa Wiecki and Dr. David Mash for a discussion of their recently released book on the history of Lander. The lecture will be organized thematically by the various “streams of learning” at Lander: Mental, Social, Physical and Aesthetic. Wiecki and Mash will highlight intriguing features and fascinating vignettes from Lander history, including images of faculty and students, entries in Samuel Lander’s diary and inspiring comments from his sermon notes. They will also discuss forgotten aspects of college life at the former Williamston campus, such as the close-knit family atmosphere, the daily walks to the spring, and the kindergarten run by the college.

David Mash

S. David Mash is associate director of the Jackson Library at Lander University and serves as university archivist. Originally from Texas he earned his M.S. from the University of North Texas and Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
