Position Title:  Director of Member Services & Resource Development

Reports to: President & CEO

Function: Director of Member Services & Resource Development is responsible for all aspects of membership. Gathers resources for trainings and programs for Chamber Members. Assist with planning and executing workforce development initiatives, small business workshops, educational programs, and major annual events.

General Duties

Engage and educate the community about the Greenwood Chamber’s organization and its goals:

  • Successful candidate for The Director of Membership plans and executes a strategic business membership sales plan for the Greenwood SC Chamber
  • The Director identifies prospects, determines their needs, communicates the Chamber’s value, and closes the sale
  • The Director grows the Chamber’s membership by driving a sales strategy that projects the Chamber’s message/brand to all our stakeholders
  • The Director works closely with each member of the Chamber staff and the Chamber’s Member Services Committee, but he/she works independently and is responsible for the success of the membership sales plan
  • Develop and execute the Chamber’s membership sales strategy
  • Sell Chamber memberships to businesses throughout Greenwood County
  • Identify sales prospects
  • Build and manage a sales “pipeline”
  • Create market segmentation strategy
  • Determine/report metrics to measure growth in membership
  • Develop and monitor membership application process
  • Deploy Chamber resources and personnel to effectively reinforce sales effort
  • Coordinate Membership and Greenwood Young Professional Committees

Work with the Communications Team to do the following:

  • Identify needs of potential Chamber members
  • Determine unique messages for individual target segments
  • Create marketing materials for membership sales
  • Develop, send, and analyze surveys to evaluate membership enhancement
  • Completes and/or coordinates special projects or events as requested
  • Coordinate education and workforce development initiatives
  • Serve as a community resource for talent development opportunities, especially for students
  • Provides document preparation and record keeping support
  • Has primary responsibility of data entry and data base management on membership software
  • Attend and participate at assigned workshops, committee meetings and conferences as approved by the President to take minutes
  • Greet all visitors and assist visitors connecting them to resources
  • Compile press clippings and media reports to be shared with leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Sales/fundraising experience
  • Personable
  • Strong social media network background
  • Appropriate handling of sensitive situations
  • Appropriate telephone skills
  • Professional appearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Management, or similar field. Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and sitting for long periods of time. Requires standing for long periods of time. Requires working outside in extreme heat and cold during outreach events. Requires face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams. Requires public speaking and contact with others (face-to-face, written, telephone or otherwise). Occasional weekend events

Physical Requirements Ability to work both indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time. Ability to walk for extended periods of time. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to tolerate numerous interruptions throughout the day.
